At Gastro Gnome, we have the opportunity to work with all sorts of guides- climbing guides, youth backpacking trip leaders, packrafting gurus, hunting guides accessing their spots by plane, and everything in between. A common thread in whichever landscape these folks call their office- great food matters to them and is fueling their long days, wherever the job takes them. We're stoked to be a part of so many experiences in the backcountry through our packable meals. Here's a quick highlight of the raddest of guides we are working with this Spring and what they're up to!
When we asked Justin, the owner of Kokanee Guide Services what a long day looks like, he said, "Backpacking in steep terrain for 12-16 hours a day." Sounds like our type of fun. Southwest of Denali National Park, Justin and his guests have the opportunity to cross some of our Planet's most breathtaking scenery and encounter a multitude of wildlife. With over 22 years of experience guiding hunts in Alaska's wilderness, Kokanee delivers an incredible hunt- but the most rewarding part? Justin says it's the combination of the physical and mental challenge presented in this landscape- and the Rigatoni, of course.Join Justin on the next hunt here.
The crew at Hellroaring makes Montana's Centennial Range their home for the Winter offering backcountry ski trips like no other. The range, home to the Missouri River Headwaters is quite possibly one of the most beautiful places on earth to hit the backcountry- 13 miles into their backcountry hut to be specific. This means meals need to be easy, lightweight, and delicious to propel some pretty epic adventures. Sam says "Hut life is simple life, and that's something we could all use a little more of."Want to earn your turns, eat well, and ski the backcountry? Click here.
Wade in Wellness women's fly fishing retreats aren't as much about being guided on the river as finding your footing as an angler. Lindsay explained "We prioritize conservation education, ensuring that even those brand new anglers who attend have a firm foundation in outdoor stewardship before they leave." Equally highlighting adventure with relaxation, these experiences focus on mindful movement, delicious food, and of course, building a skillset that allows you to be out there more often. We are thrilled to fuel their long days on the water. Lindsay says having Gastro Gnome Meals on hand for the dawn to dusk adventures makes a good meal so much easier- and allows them to stay on the river when the bite is hot!
